10 Signs of a Miss Ellen’s Great Pre K Program 1. Miss Ellen’s Children will have a new theme based curriculum that has fun, hands on activities, arts and crafts, and early literacy experiences for children ages 3-5. 2. Miss Ellen’s Children have access to various activities throughout the morning including new computers with exciting programs. 3. Miss Ellen’s Children will be introduced to necessary skills and concepts in prewriting, pre reading, science, music, and art in an enjoyable way! 4. Miss Ellen’s classroom is decorated with children's original artwork, their own writing with invented spelling, and stories dictated by children to teachers. 5. Miss Ellen’s Children learn numbers and the alphabet in the context of their every day experiences. The natural world of plants and animals and meaningful activities like cooking, taking attendance, or serving snack provide the basics for learning activities. 6. Miss Ellen’s Children work on projects and have long periods of time to play and explore. 7. Miss Ellen’s Children have an opportunity to play outside every day (weather permitting). Outdoor play is never sacrificed for more instructional time. 8. Miss Ellen will read books to children individually or in small groups throughout the day, not just at group time. 9. Miss Ellen’s Curriculum is adapted for those who are ahead as well as those who need additional help. We realize that children learn at their own pace and that’s okay with us. 10. Miss Ellen’s Children and their parents look forward to school. Parents feel secure about sending their child to the program. We want our Children to be happy to attend.
