We're a Y like no other.
The New Meadowlands Y is a place where people of all ages can come together under one roof to enjoy the things that are important to them, a place where you feel welcomed and motivated to try the things you might have been afraid to in the past.
Each day, everyone from pre-schoolers to seniors, those with diverse backgrounds and abilities will gather to pursue a broad range of educational, recreational and health-related activities.
MARA CENTER FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING
The center will provide a safe, secure and enriching environment to meet the needs of the children raised in a growing southern Bergen County work force. Parents will leave their youngsters at our Day Care Center trusting that their precious little ones are professionally cared for and will flourish through group and independent learning experiences in a welcoming, nurturing environment. Our philosophy of education is that children learn best through play. The youngest children will be engaged in fun-filled educational activities as they learn how to share, take turns, how to interact with their peers, and to start learning the concepts of the preschool standards in mat h and language arts.
Finally, the new facility will accommodate more youth in after-school programs such as “Generation Us” and School Break Clubhouse and allow us to expand our services to include infants.
GROUP EXERCISE STUDIOS
Spin and Group Exercise/ Dance studios as well as a dedicated senior wellness studio will provide space for comprehensive Healthy Living programs.
The multipurpose spaces will align community development initiatives with our social responsibility values by offering new programs in areas such as job training, activities for individuals with special needs, health and wellness learning, academic enrichment, cultural art classes, healthy cooking lessons, leadership development, and much more.
The lab will support computer literacy and promote a STEAM curriculum (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) ensuring the young ones are prepared for the modern workforce. Other classes will educate the less tech-savvy adults how to surf the web and use a computer.
As an organization deeply committed to supporting healthy living and changing behaviors for the better, the Y’s new Cooking Studio allows our community members to expand their culinary skills and knowledge in an effort to bring back the family dining experience.
Feeling good enriches our lives every day and allows all members of a community to remain active and social by building confidence and instilling courage.

Nutritional Services are also an option with registered dieticians onsite.

This former practice facility for the NBA Nets provides an expansive area for team sport activities which is a critical community need. Today’s children face the presence of gangs, the lure of alcohol and drugs, peer pressure and bullying at early ages. Teamwork, sense of accomplishment, sense of belonging and self-confidence are character development issues that not only embody the Y spirit but also successfully combat negative social pressure. Our goal is to help build stronger, healthier, more resilient youth. Southern Bergen County currently lacks sufficient gym space to serve its residents. With a multipurpose gym, the Y will offer many additional activities including competitive sports programs, open gym sessions for all ages, gymnastics, and rock climbing.
Our Licensed Massage Therapists offer a variety of modalities to assist with stress reduction and relaxation, muscle aches and sports recovery. The therapeutic benefits of massage are cumulative so the more often you massage the better you will feel and the more quickly your body will respond. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes of Swedish or Deep Tissue massage or 20-minute Chair Massage.
SOCIAL MEETING SPACES
These will provide teens, adults, and seniors with a place to gather socially for organized activities. A Senior Center will help us further develop an Active Older Adults program where members can participate in discussion groups, games, and lectures. Local teens will have a Teen Center to “hang out” with peers as well as mentors and participate in healthy and positive activities that are critical to the well-being of “tomorrow’s adults”.
SPORTSCARE INSTITUTE PHYSICAL THERAPY
With a partner we will provide a high-level of rehabilitative programming and introduce a new audience to the Y Member Services. This partnership will collectively strengthen the community’s most vulnerable members. Additionally, numerous educational symposiums will be offered.
The 25-yard, 6-lane competition pool will serve the growing number of community swimmers. Currently, our members participate in aquatic programs at the Rutherford High School pool that is now at capacity. While programs at Rutherford High School would continue, our new state-of-the-art pool will allow us to expand our aquatic programs which will be available to individuals of all ages and allow us to develop programs such as rehabilitation for seniors, special needs programs for all ages, and additional year-round competitive swim programs. The new pool will be open in Early Fall.
Child Watch at the y
More than ever, busy parents need support. When parents come to the Y for a class, group activity, or workout, their kids need a safe, enriching environment where they can build healthy, trusting relationships with other kids and adults. In Child Watch, children aged 6 months to 8 years old play under the supervision of caring, trained Y staff. At the same time, their parents are able to relax, connect with other Y members, and enjoy healthy activities at the Y.
Child Watch is available free of charge to family members and $5 per visit for other members. (Sorry, this is service cannot be extended to non-members.) Parents may leave their children in Child Watch for a maximum of 2 hours a day. Parents MUST be in the YMCA facility when using Child Watch
The stage will grow or our cultural performance programming while offering terrific live music as well as dramatic and dance performances for the whole family! This space will be available to other groups in the community.
All of the YMCA’s Administrative offices will be relocated to this space which will streamline our operations. The Nancy Sangiorgi Conference Room will host training programs and community meetings.
