An intense, calorie-burning new aerobic workout program that is developing a die hard following! Hollywood celebrities and international starlets alike (including Hilary Duff and Alexis Biedel) are discovering the body sculpting benefits and the head-to-toe, knockout results that come from Piloxing. The brainchild of Swedish dancer and celebrity personal trainer Viveca Jensen (who is also a former body builder), Piloxing blends the power, speed and agility of boxing with the grace, control, and flexibility of Pilates. This fat-torching, muscle sculpting, core-centric workout is guaranteed to whip you into shape while helping you to attain a sleek, sexy and powerful self-image. A key component to Piloxing is the principle of feminine power. While created and introduced in LA, you don’t have to live in Hollywood to train or look like a star! Piloxing has made its way to the east coast and is now offered at Future Fitness Centers. Each 60-minute Piloxing class is designed to be fun, yet challenging. It’s a great way to add variety as well as intensity to your regular workouts. The interval gym workout starts with standing Pilates, transitions to cardio-pumping boxing movements, and features playful dance segments that include hip hop, salsa, and ballet in between the two core segments. The group class format includes a warm up, cool down, and floor work to target specific muscle groups such as your abs, hips and thighs. It is estimated that Piloxing burns between 500-900 calories per hour. However, accelerated calorie burn is not the only benefit. Regular Piloxing sessions can improve speed, flexibility, and stamina. It can boost energy levels, promote weight loss, dramatically tone the body and strengthen the core. The Piloxing exercise program also incorporates optional, weighted gloves designed to enhance the workout by toning the arms and maximizing cardiovascular movements.
