Work one-on-one with a YMCA Nationally Certified Personal Trainer. The trainer will evaluate health history, lifestyle and perform physical assessments that measure your starting point to aid in designing a program that will specifically meet your needs and help you achieve your goals.

Small Group Training

Bring a friend and get fit together! Personal attention in a small group (2-5 people) setting that involves camaraderie and energy. By the use of the fitness center equipment and exercises common with strength training workouts there is a progressive approach to common goals within the group. These sessions are led by a Nationally Certified Personal Trainer.

Take the first step toward reaching your personal goals and meet with one of our Personal Trainers for a complimentary Personal Training Session. It’s included with your membership!

Together, we’ll identify goals and limitations, and then develop a plan for improvement that meets your unique needs. We can guide your training in:

  • Developing strength, power, endurance, and flexibility
  • Machine-based workouts in the Wellness Center on our state-of-the-art Technogym equipment
  • Weight loss
  • Sports-specific training
  • Whatever your goals, we will support you in achieving them!

About YMCA Personal Trainers

Like you, Personal Trainers come in a variety of shapes and sizes with different backgrounds and experience.

At the Y, Personal Trainers have at least one thing in common—they have and maintain certification through at least one national health and fitness organization or a 4 year exercise science degree. In addition to national certifications, many trainers have special areas of expertise—like Olympic Lifting, Barre, Kettlebells, Running, and Youth Specific Conditioning—that require additional (and often intensive) training.

Kevin G.

“You are what you think you are.” 

Kevin was an all star athlete in high school, playing varsity baseball, basketball and football. He took his fitness knowledge into the professional field, by getting certified in personal training. His sessions will make any newcomer or fitness pro feel like they are an athlete by running through circuits, weight training and incorporating cardio.

Michelle K.

Michelle competed in the 2018 Northern CrossFit Regional Games. Out of 40 athletes she rocked by placing 11th! Not only is Michelle a CrossFit pro, but she also is an active member of the Army National Guard. She found fitness training at the age of 18, after years of swimming and playing volleyball.
 
Michelle welcomes anyone to fitness, new or old! She can tailor a session around any client's goals.

Chris K.

Chris is a Glen Rock, NJ native who began his fitness career after suffering an injury during a soccer game. He trained throughout his time at TCNJ, and graduated with a Bachelors in Health and Exercise Science. After college, he obtained his personal training certificate through ACSM, an Exercise Physiology certificate, and other accreditations that helped to round out his knowledge base. If you're looking for a qualified exercise science guru to help you reach your fitness goals, Chris is your guy!

Joe is a former State Champion High School football player at Rutherford High School. His fitness journey started in middle school, where he started weight training after school. He is certified though ACE and enjoys working with all different fitness levels.

Saad N.

As a former football player, Saad suffered a bad knee injury where he tore over 7 ligaments in 2015. Also overweight at this time, Saad sought out help at the local gym where he found his new passion for fitness. After losing 11% body fat and over 40 pounds, he wanted to share this experience with others. He is now certified through ISSA and is ready to help others in their fitness journey.

John has over 30 years of martial arts experience, along with over 20 years of stunt performing, including working as a Knight at the Medieval Times in Lyndhurst, NJ. He is certified through NASM and uses his experience and knowledge in all of his training sessions. He believes in overall, total-body training while incorporating flexibility. His passion for the fitness industry is always visible during a workout!

Bri is a Certified Personal Trainer through ACE.    After years of unhealthy habits began building up, she decided it was time to make healthy choices. That experience gave her the opportunity to become her own client, where she learned that improving health goes beyond the physical. This led her to pursue a Behavior Change Specialist certification to further understand the difficulties of making changes and the proper steps to take. Bri’s goal is to raise the awareness of all whom she works closely with providing them the tools, mindset, and accountability to live a healthier happier life.
