Training Courses

The Meadowlands YMCA is committed to building a healthier and safer community in Southern Bergen County. As a part of our mission, we offer training and re-certification courses in Lifeguarding and First Aid/CPR/AED. These courses are available for both members and non-members. 

LIFEGUARD TRAINING

This course teaches the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Upon completion of the course participants will be certified in pool lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Enrollees must pass a mandatory pre-requisite swim test on the first day of class. Enrollees must also be at least 15 years old by the last date of the class.

Classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays

LIFEGUARD RECERTIFICATION

Open to anyone who has already been certified in lifeguarding and whose certifications are going to expire. This is a shortened version of the original course; a pre-requisite test is administered, videos shown, material reviewed, practical skills, written test.

Next course: MAY 13th & 15th, 5-10pm

FIRST AID/CPR/AED

This course teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies as well as how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies.

Next course: MAY 6th & 8th, 6-9pm

FIRST AID/CPR/AED RECERTIFICATION

Open to anyone who has already been certified and whose certifications are going to expire. This is a shortened version of the original course; videos shown, material reviewed, practical skills, written test.

Next course: MAY 10th, 5-9pm
